This is me
BJ Burke and her husband live on a one acre lot on the sand plains of Ham Lake in Anoka County, Minnesota. A woman of many intrests, she combines her talents for ceramics and photography with her love of gardening and writing.
She is the Mother of three children, step mother of four. She spent 40 years of her life as her children were growing, training, raising, and showing dogs; first Collies, then Bichon Frise. She loves creative arts, had a Ceramic Studio in Minnetonka and taught therapeutic valued ceramic classes too many women and children. Gardening, encouraged by her Mother, the joy of digging in the dirt and photography necessary to show what beauty is in nature and the glorious feeling of observing flowers and friends brought about her first book, In My Anoka Country Garden published in 2019.
She spent years writing, started in High School with an article winning a local contest and being published in the Star Tribune and writing articles for dog magazines, clubs and friends. This all encouraged her desire for writing and the long-term future plan for when life was less stressful and demanding. Traveling in her RV “Spirit” many miles, often accompanied by two dogs and friends there were many adventures to note and a life “not standing still” brought many more stories hopefully to be enjoyed by readers.
